Aftermarket radio (pioneer mvh-x580dab) power wiring.

Featured Replies

Hi there.

I have search the internet for days now, but still not found a clear answer to my question.

I have a Skoda Fabia from 2006 and I'm trying to put an aftermarket radio into it.

I have bought a pioneer mvh-x580dab and an antenna adapter. Included with the radio there was a cable adapter as well. Pictures here: https://imgur.com/a/tJMbD

When I connect everything it works, but it loses everything in memory when I take the keys out.

I have read that I might need to switch the red and yellow cable, but I'm not quite sure if that is correct or not.

What else could be wrong?

you do need to change the red and yellow bullet connectors

Thanks a lot. I did the switch and it worked...sort of.

The power seemed to work properly, but somehow the bass disappeared. It was there before, but now it's gone. I suspect it was because of a lose connection, because it didn't have the proper tools to reconnect the bullet connectors.

I will buy some today and let you know if there is an update :)

again - thanks a lot.

There is a guide already on here for stereo connections on the Fabia.

I did that, and It did solve the power problem. However, the car also doesn't have any bass at all. I believ it had it before, but I am unable to get it working (again).

If I plug back the old radio it's there.

"Proper tools"..... What proper tools? They pull apart, then you connect red-yellow and yellow-red.

Bass: Is the OEM head unit running LOUDNESS. Is the Pioneer? Have you tried tweaking the Pioneer's EQ to find the bass?

Thank you. I did some investigation of the issue yesterday and I found that the missing bass was due to a setting the the radio. I was more subtle than it sounds, because the radio had something called "speaker mode" which could only be accessed on the initial run - and not from the settings menu. I reset the radio by taking of the front and pressed the physical reset button, then I configured the radios "speaker mode" to "standart" instead of "network".

Everything seemed to work. It turned on when I started the car, and turned of when I turned off the car.

However, this morning by battery was dead :(

I don't know what could be wrong - do any of you guys have any idea. Currently the red and yellow cables are switched, and it looks like it's turning off when I take the keys out - but obviously something is going on.

The manual does have a warning about this, but I don't really know what to do about it. It does look like the radio turns off, so I assumed ACC was working properly.
