Battery drains - 2.0 tdi 16V

Featured Replies

Hello, the car with the problem is a Octavia

SKODA OCTAVIA EL 2,0 TDI  16V  BKD   2005   TMBGE61Z552088409

Watch thevideo to see how it jumps up and down from ~ 0,70 - 1,57 amp.

behaves normal and goes to sleep mode only ones after battery disconnected.

Comfort module clicks everytime the amps goes up. seems like it is waiting for something that is missing.

Have 2 faults active:

One is on the stereo that is original with 6cd changer inside. not recognized or something like that.

But it works fine and shows value from temp, clock and climate controle.

Have tried to have it disconected but it doesnt take away the draw.

Other fault is on the towbar - no connection to module.

3 fuses for the towbar and all are good.

.....

I have checked the: doors, all locks, all lights.. car locks down normaly and the indicators flash normaly, no sound from the alarm pip pip..

While measuring amps I took all the fuses inside car and next to engine... one at time, still the draw continues...

what more can I do ?

Did you shut the bonnet catch after you locked the car to make sure that the alarm activated, otherwise this may affect the readings

You're not giving the car enough time to enter low power mode...

To track this down properly, read the current draw pdf on this page: https://wiki.bentleypublishers.com/display/tech/Parasitic+draw+testing+through+fuse+panel+VW+technical+bulletin+270711

Basic plan is:

- Short out the bonnet switch and the drivers door switch

- Lock the car with the bonnet and drivers doors open (to access fuse boxes)

- Leave the car for 60 minutes

- Measure the voltage drop over each fuse

- Use the table in the PDF to find which circuit is causing the current draw

Thanx.

Yes had the door lock and bonnet catch closed..  I would not know how to short out the bonnet catch and door "switch" except from just pushing the door lock hook to lock.. and bonnect catch manually lock it up..

Will try to measure over each of the fuses.. ! thanks.

Where do I find a explanation for the fuses that only show a picture of a book... I dont have any instruction manual from the car..

Manually forcing the door/bonnet switches to a closed position is fine, as long as the car thinks they are shut it's all good!

You can get the official wiring diagrams for a small charge from: https://erwin.skoda-auto.cz

Once you know what fuse it is and what it powers, you can remove items one by one :)

Find the fault...

Yes I did read out the fault codes with multiple different readers... but not with one that can read out everything

So after a real  :peek:  reading it was some "communication" with the 2 front door modules... erase the faults.. and the comfort module stopped clicking.. draw gone..
