Getting address from reg plate

Featured Replies

I don't think a HPI check provides this info. Any other way, please? Reasons are private so please don't ask. ;) (true to say someone has been a royal to55er....)

Is going to the Police to report a crime the only real way?

Data protection act pevents the giving out of confidential details, so yep, you will have to try the police

Ok, thanks for confirming. Thankfully it doesn't affect me in anyway directly, but trying to help someone out who I know well. :)

The plate of this car has already been named & shamed publically, along with the type of car. Hopefully coincidence will prevail and they'll bump into the person again.

If you have reason to require the details (ie, you're a clamping company trying to enforce a debt) then you could get the details from the DVLA for a small fee. Otherwise it's reporting the incident to the police. Even then they wont give you the details personally (or shouldn't) and would just persue a prosecution if that was in the public interest.

They have a big telephone book style directory in Switzerland - somebody carves you up you go to their house and have it out with them

Also useful for when tidy ladies drive about too :D

I don't live there though :(

Hi

If you know someone with access to the PNC that owes you a favour you can get the info. Otherwise, near to impossible to track down. The police are not allowed to hand out info. Had this a few years back and the reg was not genuine / registered. Luckily, bumped into the guy a few months later. Me. Hold a grudge?

Chris

DangerMouse informs you well: if you have a good reason then the DVLA will give out the details. Otherwise, report whatever it is (if you're not going to tell us :D)to the police and let them deal with it.
