My drivers side microswitch is on the way out, thought I'd go for a new pattern part one this time. I've received it and it doesn't appear to have the small cable attached that goes to the outer handle, with that toothed peg on the end. Am I able to take that cable off the existing mech to swap over as I can with the long Bowden cable?

Yes it unclips from the metal arm. Can't quite remember if you have to turn it or not but it deffo comes off.
