Cree LED Headlamp Bulbs

Featured Replies

I thought I'd fit some LED bulbs in my headlamps - 2006 vRS Tdi.  They look great and light the road up much better than the previous bulbs, but trip the blown bulb warning on the dash.  Anyone know why this might be?

That will be because of the canbus system detecting a lower voltage than halogen bulbs. Think it needs an additional loom/resistor to sort the problem, as per fitting any LED bulb.

Where did you get them from, and are they H4 or H7? I got H4's from http://fourby.co.uk/epages/950004277.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/950004277/Products/LEDH4 for mine, and yes, they are fantastic compared to standard halogens (even nightbreakers)

The yellow tint to the sides are the fog lamps for comparison

I bought some Cree  LED bulbs for my E60 530d last year...they were awful. it was the only time I've ever been scared of driving at night. Purely because there was absolutely no light emitted from the bulbs to light the road....and i was on backroads which weren't lit!

Tempted to try them again in the Fabia though.

The ones I bought weren't cheap - however, they had been using them and tested several different suppliers before selling them and everyone I know who bought them has nothing but praise (and they pass the MOT no problem with a good beam pattern). You can make a simple wiring loom to power the headlights via relays direct from the battery to get 12v direct to the bulbs.

I very nearly brought some the other day during the Amazon sale heard good things about them.

Nickhowes do you have a link to the led bulbs you brought?

Would be interested to take a look at them, I take it they are H7?
