Recommended Posts

Need help :( picked a set of genuine xenon headlights up for my mk1 fabia vrs but the headlight lenses are ruined any way I can replace the lenses? Can't find a local company that will attempt it

By ruined do you mean all scratched and kind of misted over? Mine went like that and I used a £20 plastic headlight restorer kit from 3M. With some patience they came up like brand new again.

About the only thing (IMO) t-cut is good for is misty/cloudy headlights. A bit of elbow grease and you will see good improvement.

If they're too far gone for that, a bit of wet sanding and polish will bring 'em up good again, or a kit like vrsbuzz suggests.

When I did this I used a £1 sheet of 2000 grit "wet and dry" sandpaper from ebay and then, as has been said, T-Cut to finish the job. Some people say you then need a coating to provide UV protection but I was not expecting them to last another 15 years and they are unchanged after 2.

Curious to know why bother masking the bonnet and grill when you could just open the bonnet?

Because it was windy and I didn't want the wind to catch the bonnet.
