Interior Light on - No remote central locking - Part of same problem?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, first post here.

I have a 2002 Skoda Fabia, with what seems like a common problem.

Faults:

The remote central locking has stopped working. You can only lock and unlock the car from the mechanical door lock.

The interior light remains on when on the 'door open' position on the roof mounted switch with all the doors shut. I waited for over a minute to check.

The immobilizer (flashing LED) is only turned on intermittently when locking the doors from the mechanical door lock. Unlocking and re-locking normally cures.

From reading around this would seem to indicate that the car thinks the doors are still open, hence the light remaining on and the remote central locking refusing to actuate.

Further reading would suggest this is due to a faulty micro-switch buried within the driver door, in the door lock mechanism?

Is there any way to confirm this with an unregistered copy of VCDS-Lite and a el-cheapo lead from eBay? (Lead and software functioning well, can read fault codes, etc)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You should be able to see which door it thinks is open in convience unit measuring blocks. Not sure the cheap vcds shows all the data tho ?
