Looking at an Octy VRS Tomorrow

Featured Replies

Hi chaps.

My first post:thumbup: !

Just to introduce... I currently own a Mk2 Golf 8v Here and hereand post quite a bit on the CGTI forum. Time has come that the mrs can't bear the non-pas Uber-wagon anymore and 'needs' a newer car! Can't blame her really.

Anyway, had to be Vag and come in at under

Had an 03 octy vrs, now on 04 fabia vrs, love em both,

I think you'll like the octy, except when you open the hatch in the rain, and get a bootfull of water:rofl: .

That apart, cant think of much to worry about.

cheers

Jonno.

Hehehehe!

Have to watch that...:)

Welcome to Briskoda. :D CC isn't standard but, as you say, can be retrofitted for you for £200 or less using original parts plus a made-up loom from the fusebox to the ECU. You can buy a warranty from Warranty Direct, for example, for circa £300 upwards depending on mileage and a complete service history. I would insist on the latter as one of your requirements. Good luck with the test drive.

good choice of car mate :) i had a mk2 GTi before buying my octy vRS. i was lucky enough to own them at the same time till the golf had to go due to houe buying :(

you will love the octy, really nice cars to drive and own, good luck

listen out for dash rattles, very annoying in and around the heater vent on top of the dash and glove box.standard ICE is pants, big fat Y front pants, carpets and seats are very hard to keep clean.

Yes, great car. Good performance, drives well, spacious, big boot and good economy.

standard ICE is pants

Other people have said this, but to be quite honest it seems just as good or bad as any other car system....

In what way is it 'pants'? Is it lacking in bass for a Max Power-esque Drive-Thru sound-off?

Bought it! Absoloutely loved it. Black Y plate (2001) FSSH with 40k on the clock. Excellent performance and I was more than impressed with the interior quality. I thought the 280mm brakes on my mk2 (from a Rallye) bite hard, but the Octy ones are something else - are they 312mm?

Engine was sweet as a nut. Garage is doing a service on it before we pick it up, also a years MOT. Front tyres were screwed, had a full set of Avons on it, but the chap said that he'd just have to put their standard 17" tyre on it - couldn't garantee a brand. Not worried about that since I've still got the Golf for the corners, the VRS is for the straight lines!

Paid £6300 with a years mechanical and electrical parts and labour warranty. Going to pick it up next weekend and can't bloody wait! Best bit is that I've got to drive it from South Wales back to North Devon as its first journey, bummer eh?

Cheers for the welcome guys. If anyone's got a CC stalk and the loom lying around I'll be interested... soon.

Nice one , enjoy your journey home.

apart from the buzzing from the passenger side lower one,the tweeters have been removed due to buzing from them.i'm not the type of person that goes in for sound offs, but a nice clear speaker system with a little bit of poke would be good.even for the days when i can play what i want and not what the seven year old back seat driver wants on.a few hundred quid would sort this though, when i have the spare moola:cool:
