Was looking at potentially changing my rims.

Saw some that are 17in 7J,  5 x 100 but have an ET30

Is that a problem?

I have a 2005 1.4 16V Mk1 Estate

Also what would be the correct tyre size for them that would fit under me arches.

thanks

Should be fine, I ran 7x17 et38 with 15&20mm spacers (front and rear), so et23 and et18 and had no issues with tyres outside arches.

Tyre size should be 205/40/17.

If i stick with my Mk1 VRS 16's, i was thinking of putting 195/45/16 tyres on the car as opposed to 205/45/16

Is that a problem?

Should still be fine, speedo will be ever so slightly out, but nothing to worry about.

Ride quality will be harder on the 195/45,as the profile is the percentage of the width.

So even though the 205/45 is the same profile number the sidewall will be higher and a softer ride :)

I thought you needed 40's on a 17" rim as anything higher throws out the speedo and causes rubbing when heavily laden?

He's asking about 16's in his last post ;)

D'oh! lol
