First Variable Service For Vrs

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Just rung my dealer to book the Octy in for it's first variable service. Mileage is 18188 at 15 months old.

Workshop said it should come up at 20000 miles and have booked it on for 11th November.

Are they missing the point of variable servicing ? (or am I).

If the service indicator says 500 miles to service then surely this is when it should be done, not when it gets to 20,000 miles which the dealer deems appropriate ??

Confused of Colchester...

I think it's the dealer that is confused. Get it done when it says, Jane, otherwise what's the point of having the car on variable servicing.

Just called and spoke to someone with a bit of sense. Car now booked in for next friday.

Actually they aint far off. The servicing on AVS can vary between 9,000 miles and 19,000 miles. These are the parameters that are set into the dash panel at PDi. Usually the light comes on around the 14-15,000 mile mark but it all depends on how the car is driven etc.

Had my 20k service last week but I had booked it in at 19.5k and no sign of the service indicator.

Car actually had 20.7k on day of service and still no sign of indicator. Mileage covered in just over a year.

Obviously I'm not driving it hard enough.;)
