Hopefully someone can help or its £800 down the drain regards oldtimer

Windows 10 should work fine with VCDS, at least it has for me.

I'd suggest starting a thread on the ross-tech forums as they'll should be able to clear any issues up: http://forums.ross-tech.com/

I upgraded my netbook to Win10, VCDS was already loaded and it continued to work okay - though Win10 as an upgrade to Win7 on the netbook is a real pain to use, hopefully as your was a clean instal on a new machine your one should be avoiding all the crappy way of working my old netbook has taken on!!

I am on WIN10 with latest VCDS and no issues.

Try running as administrator (right mouse click VCDS icon)

Thank you for your advice Welsh-kai-boy your surgestion was spot on and it worked first time

you can change the properties on the icon to always run under admin, mine works OK on 10, also if you are running 64 bit (which I think you will be) ensure you are running the 64 bit version of VCDS
