Fit parking sensors without removing the bumper (VRS)

Featured Replies

Ok been following the excellent guide:

sensors tested and working fine

I have found the grommet/hole behind the spare wheel for feeding the sensors wires through

question is can i drill the holes with the supplied drill bit without removing the bumper on my vrs and then feed the wires through?

has anyone done it before or is it a must to remove the bumper and then drill the holes? what is behind the top half of the vrs bumper?

There's a big metal thing in there. ISTR when fabia-vrs.com was around and with piccies, the main reason for removing the bumper was access and making holes for cable ties, so that the cables didn't hang around everywhere. There are apparently "special" spots for drilling if fitting the factory kit.... Or maybe ANOther 3 sensor kit.

I would suggest looking at other VRS's with sensors fitted to review drilling location. I have fitted aftermarket ones to a non VRS mk1 (Classic) and a mk2 Greenline without removing the bumpers, although as suggested it is easier to tidy the wiring with the bumper off - I just struggled and ended up using the old "straightened out coat hanger and insulating tape" tool to guide the cables.

the coat hanger and tape method worked perfectly
