Multifunction Wheel on Mk2 vRS

Featured Replies

Well that was a close one

As some of you know, I've ordered my vRS with multifunction wheel - which originally my dealer could not tell me wether I could have it.

Then Skoda accepted the order - no problem with multifunction wheel, I then worried that it might come through with a standard 4 spoke with multifunction rather than the 3 spoke vRS with multifunction.

So today I received the definitive answer.

You CAN have multifunction wheel on the vRS BUT if you do it will come with The 4 Spoke Wheel as per the rest of the range.

Needless to say I've cancelled that option.

Also had news that my car is delayed "slightly" due to ordering the blue :(

although still expected to arrive March, probably be towards the end of March

So good and bad news then.

Yes, to be honest I was suprised when they accepted the order, and was expecting some delay - purely due to the number of options I've gone for.

so they said yes to the rest of your options then

Yes they had to speak to the Skoda sales office to order the car,as they could not enter all the options via there normal ordering system.

I'm hoping that this means they will get the build right

Thanks for your help mate now I can rest in piece that I can get the rear mirror gadget that I wanted:)

Still waiting for the definitive on that, but with rainsensing wipers & auto lights surely it should have the auto-dimming mirror ?

yeah the rain sensor is on that mirror

Why is the colour blue delaying the order?

From what your saying it looks as though I can have a Vrs with M/F wheel and Auto wipers/ auto dippy mirror? (dont mind 4 spoke wheel)

It is the lack of these two options that are putting me off the Vrs. As I have them on my Superb comfort, I wanted them again on the Vrs.

Oh well test drive tomorrow in Vrs so make or break time:D

I think it's purely the number of orders received for the blue.

Basically yes -- as long as you don't mind 4spoke -- I have specced mine with auto lights/wipers - and I'm told the auto dip mirror comes with them

Re: Multifunction steering wheel:

After todays disappointing test drive with a VRs, went around other garages. Had a look at the new Seat Leon. came away very impressed!

Multifunction wheel is only 3 spoke. looked better than Skoda offering. In fact whole car looks better than Octavia. Better equipped as well. Only down side was interior plastics cheaper and harder than VW/Skoda offerings.

Now considering Leon 2.0TDI 140 DSG Sport at about same price as basic VRS.

HAve you tried a octy with the 2.0TDI ?

I've got the multifunction steering wheel on my Octy and never use it as the stereo is nicely placed to turn up the volume etc anyway, looks nice at night though

My experience of driving the Altea and Leon was very dissapointing. I really felt that i'd be dropping down a couple of classes if I went for the Leon or Altea over the OctyII. The quality of the Seat IMO wasn't a patch on the OctyII and even though the Seat cars I drove were almost new, they were already developing creaks and rattles. The glovebox door on the Altea dropped open everytime i drove over a bump in the road.

My experience is that Skoda have managed to build the OctyII to the same (if not better) quality standards as the VW Golf whilst giving you a lot more kit (and car) for your money. Seat on the other hand have kept costs down by building a sporty looking motor with cheap internal plastics and finishes. They then integrated all the VAG toys and gizmos into it to make it attractive to buyers.

Bang for buck Seat may beat Skoda but you have to live with the car too. I just couldn't live with a model from the current Seat range. IMO Swmbo's 97 Ibiza was screwed together better than the current Leon.

Johnnyc did you contact the company that make the Skoda sterio's before ? Just wondering if a different type of radio control unit might be available.
