hopefully getting a superb

Featured Replies

morning and apologise if this has been asked several times before ... but looking to buy a superb 2.0tdi CR elegance manual 50kmiles with nearly every option available ... from a dealer ... is there any thing to look for ... we dont do a massive amount of mileage but once a month a 200mile round trip to see me folks .. car just a good price ... any issues with engine etc info would be much appreciated

Would a petrol 1.8 be a better choice due to the low mileage?

Avoids DPF issues etc. then

mmm i woundered that ... but hoping with the trips down south once a month and taking the kids to footy on weekends may stop these issues

look at the oil consumption thread , seems best to avoid the petrol ones

thats why i was looking at diesel .... just wanted to check before buying ...

A good blast on the motorway once or twice a month should be enough to clear the DPF.  What year is the car i.e. has the 50k miles been covered over many years or is it relatively new?

I've always gone for the 2 litre diesel, good performance with good fuel consumption

Depends on the age of the car.

BZB seems to be a good 'un but is 58-2010 in twindoor.

CDAA post 2011 with the fix seems fine as well..

My previous BZB 1.8 was cheaper to run Inc maintenance than my previous diesel Octavia....

under 20,000 miles a year, get a petrol

1 bad apple..........

Plus...

The UK only produces 48 weeks worth of diesel a year, we have to import 4 weeks worth

Diesels are getting the bums rush.....might even get banned!

Servicing is dearer than a petrol, the cost of a diesel is more than the equivalent petrol car and is diesel dearer at the pumps again now?

I never get the price of Diesel in the UK - I think just about everywhere else in Europe they charge less. You must be getting taxed "extra" on Diesel compared to many other countries.

I filled up on Diesel yesterday for 1.10 euro per litre. Petrol was 1.24

Oil tolerance 'Within Tolerances of 0.5 litres in 1000km' is a figure they give."

Lots of bad apples

Here in Finland Diesel is also cheaper (about 1.20€/l diesel vs 1.40/l for petrol) but diesel cars have higher yearly vehicle tax and cost more to buy, so you have to drive a lot to take advantage of the cheaper fuel.

So does Ireland - all of it when it comes to oil is imported. The only thing we have any success drilling for is Natural Gas.

That V6 Superb is lovely. Wonder what the day to day economy is like....

Just sold a v6.

day to day Uk driving around 20 mpg.

day to day Europe, mostly Germany driving around 9-20mpg.

As per mfd.

Meh - I bought a 1.8TSI for dirt cheap and am now proceeding to put 25K a year through it. Will take 2 years to be more expensive than buying equivalent diesel...
