Vrs funny idle.

Featured Replies

My 2011 Vrs has got an erratic idle when stationary. I don't have oil problem as I am on my 3rd engine and in 16k miles iv not used a single drop off oil. The plugs are new, the coil packs are new so I'm wondering if it's the maf sensor? How long would you say they last? I'm on 59k miles in total.

Ever had a new fuel filter fitted?

Yep. The fuel filter was done at 40k miles. It's only just recently started doing it and only does it very often.

How new are the plugs and are the NGK @ 0.7mm gap?   Are these put in since the engine went in 16,000 miles ago, and by yourself ?

Air filter in the box nice and clean?

Does the car shake?

Olivia got the itg induction kit and the spark plugs when in 6k miles ago. Done at Skoda.

Yes the shakes.

Simplest test will be getting all 4 plugs out and check them.

6,000 miles is not much, but they changed the Spark Plugs but what map is your engine running?

It is a CAVE after all!

Mine has a very very slight shake, is that normal?

Not really.

When you start up the RPM will be about 1,100 and drop in less than 1 minute.

Even summer time.

If it is really warm or just the car sitting in the sun the Airbox can be hot and the car might start and be a bit rough.

A Software update is a good idea if you do not know when done if even done,

and use Super Unleaded, 97 if you must 99 ron better though but some say they are fine on 95ron..

On my 20 mile drive to work I did not get a rought idle once. Now if it's plugs do you think I would get it all the time?

If the plugs are getting sooted up because not really getting hot,

and if one plugs gap is wider because the tip has worn.

But a sensor can be needing replaced, it is a case of getting a diagnosis done.

Spark Plugs out will tell a tale though and give an idea of how the engine is doing.

Nice and brownish and as they should be, or a bit sooty and some oil on and one blacker than the other 3.

Had the plugs out yesterday and they are still perfect. Driving round yesterday and still have the intimatant idle.

But While I have been driving round today in the 25 degree heat it's not done it once.

It's booked in at Skoda for next week for them to have a look.

How long does it do it for?

Mine idles over 1000 for minute where there is a little shake and then drops to 900 or so and the shaking stops.

Time that again maybe, something not right there.

About 40 seconds is normal, 1,100 rpm and drop to 800 rpm, and that is in cold weather.

OK, around 45s and then dropped just under 900. The car had been in the sun and was warm.
