I have an 09 Facelift petrol VRs

Was driving home from work today and the car misfired all the way home particularly around 2000rpm and under load, eventually the CEL started flashing then the EPC light came on. The OBD only logged two faults even though it misfired all the way home, about 8 miles.

Diagnostic from VCDS is:

Would i be right in thinking coil packs?

Thanks

To be sure, swap the coil pack for cylinder 1's and see if the fault swaps over, that way it pretty much proves its the coil pack and nothing else

Thanks for the advice, the misfire followed the coil pack, so next question is where is best to get good quality coil packs on line?

Are the red R8 ones any good or am I better of with OEM ones?

Also, am I right that I should replace all 4 and not just the failed one as they're all likely to go soon?

The R8 ones are OEM, probably exactly the same coil as the one you would get from skoda only red. I would get a set of whichever is cheaper.

You could just replace the faulty one though if you wanted.

Firstly, a flashing MIL indicates a live engine misfire, and secondly engine misfires under load are usually due to a high tension (HT) ignition fault, such as an ignition coil or spark plug/s.
