TDI 140 slight hesitation

Featured Replies

When I went on a test drive at weekend in a manual superb 140 TDI, I noticed a slight hesitation while sitting at a steady speed. The salesman noticed it too, but I was wondering if anyone had the same with their cars.

I've bought it, they claim they'll put it into skoda and have it fixed before I collect it. The ABS / anti skid light came on too, but I believe it's a known issue and again it'll be fixed before delivery.

They have been told I will drive it before I pay the balance, and if all ain't well the deals off.

Thanks

Si

The only way to know for sure is to have someone with vcds scan it. You can find out who lives nearby who has and is willing to scan for you from the map. Make it part of the deal if you are going to buy the car.

Bye way welcome to the site.

Maybe it's the one after software update?

might be crap in the EGR or fuel system, has it always been serviced, used good oil and branded fuel?....

You need to have it checked for any codes - there's a list of things that can cause hesitation (airflow sensor, EGR issues, dirty injectors, problem with throttle position sensor to name but a few) and it will also depend on whether you have a PD engine or a CR engine

Its a pain - but the only way to diagnose it is to check any/all fault codes and that means a scan. If they are sending it to a Skoda dealer/good independent - then that is what they will do.

If I were you, i would ask for two things: 1) what any code scan revealed and 2) precisely what was done to correct the fault.

When you have that info - post it here for some friendly opinions.

Great to have you here - hope it all works out!

Thanks folks, yup the cars been well looked after by a well known skoda dealer in (was) Broxburn. All serviced and timing belt done recently according to the service literature.

I'll let you know once I find out.
