Featured Replies

hey guys im just wondering about how much boost you have in each gear my car is remapped at stage one here in sweden i have a 3 inch downpipe with 200cell sports cat and 2,5 inch exhaust after the cat and an upgrade turbo thats suitable for 260hp very similar to the k04-001

1st  0,7 bar

2nd 1,0 bar

3rd  1,2 bar

4th  1,2 bar

5th  1,2bar

is that normal that its that low in the first 2 gears or should it be the same on every gear

can't say I have noticed a difference with gears really, but I have with revs..... (mine is mapped, 3" decat and system)

2nd goes through the revs real quick, and will "hold" about 1.1 BAR...

as revs rise, boost will normally reduce....

for example in 5th at lower revs it will peak at 1.6 BAR......

in 3rd it will boost peak 1.5 BAR but reduce to about 1.1 BAR as revs rise...

so I would say mine will always "hold" 1.1 BAR minimum on full throttle....

edit: standard K03S

Pretty much all manufactures with a front wheel drive setup have the torque (therefore boost) truncated in the lower gears to some extent to protect the transmissions.

Engines have increased considerably in output compared to the capabilities of the drive lines.

Added to traction problems when going full load and steering at the same time, you can normally have torque truncation sometimes even in third gear.

Also have to do with how quick the revs rise in lower gears, there is less time to generate a high peak boost.

aah okej i just went out for a test drive  with the right t-pipe with a restriction in it

last time i had a t-piece that didnt have a restriction so this time  the reading will be better i suppose

1st 0,75-0,8bar

2nd 1,0 bar

3rd 1,0 bar

4th 1,0 bar

5th 1,0 bar

it could peak at 1,2 bar at some point but then dropped down to 1,0 bar
