Must be missing the totally obvious here but where on the PD injector is the diesel in port? I think I have got the return port but where does fuel come in?

I've always thought it was the same area, like a flow + return.

See the narrower section to the left before the nut if you like. Along the surface and lots of tiny holes. The injector sits in the fuel rail and fuel is drawn in through the holes.

Ah - I think I see what you are talking about now.

 

Assume then that the inlet is the small holes in white rectangle in attachment.

 

Presume this acts as a last defence filter against any larger pieces of crud getting to injector nozzle
