Advice Req on Steering Wheel and Electronic Stability Control Errors

Featured Replies

Hello. My Yeti 4X4 is over 4 years old and has driven 44000 km only.

With these intense monsoon rains of India, I had a terrible case of fungus all over my car interiors (It hadn't been drive for about 15 days).

Now, I am getting a yellow Steering Wheel Error, and the ABS and Electronic Stability error lights. Especially when I switch on the car, but sometimes they both go away.

I need to drive some 2000 km. Is it ok to continue like this? I couldn't get a last minute service appointment, and with the shop closed over the weekend, I was wondering.

The manual says these could be linked to the Electronic Differential Lock. Is there anyway for me to find out of its ok to continue a long drive without damaging anything or causing any errors or accidents?

The warnings mean that the associated systems (anti-lock brakes and traction control respectively) aren't working correctly. The foundation brakes still work correctly, but harsh acceleration may cause wheel spin and harsh braking may cause wheel locking.

High humidity and electronics don't go well together and fungi on top doesn't bode well,

Doesn't battery condition affect the traction control etc. ?

Hmmm... Maybe the moisture is causing erratics in electronics

With fly-by-wire it's a bit of a worry too.
