having bother updating my sat nav

Featured Replies

was wondering if anyone has had there sat nav updated and if there is a charge? if there is how much? ive downloaded the latest maps. over 6GB worth. the standard SD card i got with the car is only 4GB so ive been out and bought a new SD car to hold the new maps. tried to install them into the car but nothing on the sd card when there is. So think its going to be a dealer job. thanks

which version of MIB have you got? is it ver1 or 2 and ehat unit is it Amundsen or Columbus? The update is different for each ;-)

thanks for the reply john. im not sure what you mean by MIB. i do however know my uni is the amundsen

You sure you have a Mk3 Octavia? Post a pic of the head unit.

If it's an Amundsen it'll only work with the genuine Skoda SD which iirc is 32GB.

its a secure digital 8Gb, understand the only ones that work are the ones direct from Skoda

You'd be surprised how many people confuse the Amundsen, Amundsen Plus, and Amundsen II units. It's always a good idea to just ask the question. :sun:

Have you got a genuine Skoda card now? If you haven't you're wasting your time

yeah ive always had the offiical skoda one, if formatted it like it says to do when updating via a mac before you stick new maps onto it but the car wont read any of the formants im choosing

I'm sure I have heard that updating the sat-nav via a mac ain't a simple process as it is via a windows machine, as the mac creates other files on to the SD card?

best to make sure that you have an original skoda SD card

A windows machine, and search within the octavia 3 forum as there is plenty of information regards this, that will help you out.

When I updated mine on my Mac, I simply deleted the old maps off, emptied the trash then copied the "maps" folder from the download onto the card. From what I've read on here it's more straight forward than doing it in Windows.

Formating the original skoda SD card is risky because you can delete(not 100% sure )the hidden file/s which allows its recognition by the unit.Simple replacement of the "maps"file should be enough

Have updated mine several times (with windows PC) always format the card & never had any issues. Formatting does not appear to delete security/recognition data.

i only went off what the skoda website said but i guess this is what has happened in my case

Download the maps, delete the files from your original Skoda SD card & unzip the files straight to the card. Job done.
