A few of the 2.0l tdi golf owners on UK-MVs.net have gone the superchips route and like it. Search around different tuners and see what they can do before commiting to a specific type of map.

Give Jabba sport a ring, they seem to be a favorit on here and are meant to be very good.

Had a look at jabbas site, no mention of octy so looked up golf. Is there anyone in particular to speak to? £475 before any discount??

If you want to go with Jabba, wait for a GB.

Personally I was not to keen on the look of the power graph for the 2.0l Tdi it is in their section of this site..

Point of note: Last time I checked, Superchips power/torque curves differ slightly between the 2.0 TdiPD engines in the A3, GolfV and Octavia which is reasonable considering that every engine diifers slightly in its characteristics. However, in each case the rolling road test on the standard car 'before' the remap yielded 156bhp.

After the remap the rolling road test yeilded 185bhp in each case.

If the measurement of 156bhp peak power before remapping is a fluke or down to innaccuracies in the test equipment then you may not actually acheive anywhere near 185bhp. The only claim that Superchips make is that they can incease power by 30bhp. If your 2.0 TDi only manages 141bhp before the remap then you'll more likely get around 170bhp after remapping.

At £511.00 it's still pretty good value but I wish they would bring out a Bluefin plug-in version like they have for the mondeo

Other options would be a tuning box from one of the reputable tuners. Will cost a couple of hundred quid and provide very good gains (20-30bhp) and also be easily removable should you want to return the car to standard for servicing/warranty... Can also be sold on when you sell the car and make back most of the outlay

Sounds very nice! an increase of 170/180bhp would put the total power up to 310/320bhp! Where do I sign?

I'm confused. This sounds interesting but is it like a re-map? Do you mean an analogue box. Is there not an issue with fuel economy though where the box doesn't alter the boost settings and instead just tells the ECU to push more fuel in.

There are two types, analogue and digital. Both "confuse" the signal output by the fuel temp sensor which causes the ECU to overfuel. Sticking more fuel into a diesel is the general way to increase it's performance as there's no ignition timing, etc to mess with.

The analogue boxes usually just work with a rheostat which alters the output voltage linearly. In a digital box, a MAP is used to adjust the output voltage based on engine RPM (I guess this is calculated based on the sensor's unaltered output :confused:) which allows the car's behaviour to be tailored. This gets around problems with a check engine light coming on under certain conditions with the analogue box.

I've seen improved economy with both the tuning boxes I've run for everyday driving, although if you boot it everywhere of course you'll see a drop. Boost is not affected by the tuning boxes.

I've fitted (at last- its a long story) a PSI tuning box to mine. Its a digital box with four different settings ; ranging from 15hp to 30ishhp increase (they recommend a pipercross airfilter for the higher settings, which I've fitted).

It certainly pulls well from about 2000rpm and redlines much quicker!

However the cost is a increase in fuel consumption down to 43mpg. (it makes the MFI lie about your fuel consumption)

Look at their website; East Coast Racing; based in Norwich.

I chose this option as;

a; It can be removed fairly quickly

b; If only affects the fueling

c; Does'nt increase boost so no blown turbo/headgasket/warranty problems

d;adjustable in situ

Both the tuning box and the remaps have their pros and cons, but if you need a smooth and powerful very reliable car, i would highly recommend CUSTOM CODE. Contact them and I am sure you'll get the best value for the money spend. Cheers

If I was doing it again, I'd get a tuning box rather than a remap for a diesel.

I am happy with my map but, if you wanna change it for any reason (warranty work, servicing, wife driving etc etc) you can't. Tuning box is cheaper, removable, almost as good.

I'm considering this on my car also, I seem to be swaying down the CUSTOM CODE route at present....
