Quite like to replace my existing black interior on my Elegance Estate with that from a L&K ,Please let me know what l am letting myself in for.I did get a peek at Buddies at the festival and liked the chromed instrument surrounds and the idea of leather upholstery appeals.l'm not sure where l might get it from(recommended scrapyard?)and how much this will cost me.(stingy old bugger!)

Finding an L&K black interior is like fing hens teeth. Your better off looking for a Mk4 Golf, Seat Leon, Audi A3 interior as they all fit. (Just so happens I amselling a full electric with homemade loom and full leather seats from a Seat Leon Cupra for £200 collected from South Wales). Costs will varie depending on condition, and seller, and can range from sub £100-£600. Chrome dash trims you can get on eBay for a Mk4 Golf. If you want the actual clocks you will need someone with relevant software to code them in for you as the immobiliser is built into the dash clocks.

These are my dash clocks in my Octavia wagon from an L&K. Also my Mk4 Golf leather seats.

Thanks for your swift replies simspj .I was just in the middle of requesting some photos ,then saw your second post.spooky or what! So all the alternatives are a straight swop?Looking carefully at your L&K instruments do they fit inside the existing Elegance moulding or are they one piece ?l was looking at getting my bezels chromed if that is possible depending on their construction.

Yes all mentioned vehicles are exactly the same floor pan as the Octavia Mk1 and seats are a direct fit, only thing if electrically operated you have to have the loon for power as for the heated seat elements they are a lot harder to fit as the looms are part of the interior loom of the car and unless you can find one and split off the heated seat section and get the relay and switch it's not worth the hassle. I do know of an L&K being broken but the seats are beige not black. The L&K dash pod fits straight in to the Elegance (that's the model I have). The chrome rings and centre chrome oblong are actually a set for a Mk4 Golf I just didn't use the ones that go around the fuel and temp gauges as the display is slightly different. The plastic section that's painted is actually out of an Elegance.

There quite easy to remove, their are two torx screws on the black bezel around the clocks covered with two small covers (normally). Lower and extend the column as far as it can go, the bottom of the bezel is clipped in and can be a pain to get off, you basically need to push the bottom of the bezel down and pull towards you, once you have that off, there are two Phillip screw at the top of the cluster, once those are undone the cluster tilts forward as its on two pins at the bottom, try not to snap them off. Once out there are two multi plugs that need removing, there is not much room to work in there and be careful not to bend pins on the cluster on the way out or back in. The actual clear plastic screen is just clipped into the bezel. Once that's off you can fit the chrome rings if needed, or replaced if necessary. Is your diesel or petrol as I do know of a set of diesel L&K clocks for sale?

Ok after hell of struggle managed to remove the bezel succeeded in straining one of the clip feet. Can l now disconnect from the harness connections without any mileage etc worries ?

Hi

To give my little contribution... I have recently done same thing: Took my "elegance" interior and put in L&K one. Fortunately, I was lucky to find L&K interior in very good condition (and it was very cheap: 100€ for complete beige interior including door panels, carpet, seat belts and other beige upholstery parts). I also got leather steering wheel for 50€ extra. Old seats were not heated seats so I took complete installation from a donor car, and it was quite easy to fit as it is OEM. Regarding instrument cluster, I also replaced it with one from Golf 4, with huge display at the center. In reality you need about 6 to 10 hours of work and a lot of patience. I added few photos for you to see how it went.

Good luck in your work

You remove the plugs with no problems just making sure they come out square and the same on refitting. Sorry for late replying but was on holiday with poor wifi connection.

Thanks for that nige8021,must of missed it somehow, just ordered last one .Cheers.

I've got an L&K and to be honest the sand coloured leather isnt all that hard to keep clean. The carpets however do take a bit of work, I get all the mats out and shampoo them every couple of months.

This is something i've been pondering over for a while as my bodyworks got so many scratches, dings and marks I recon its cheaper to buy a doner with a better shell and swap everything over than it is to have the marks taken out. I'll be following this with interest!

I've just bought an L&K with 106k miles  & the interior is damn near perfect.

Although i'm considering buying a new seat foam as the drivers side has gone... but the leather itself is fine.

I think if you manage to get one you'll probably find it in the same condition. I've seen £65 quoted here but Skoda in Mansfield wanted £100 saying its an L&K one.

So its one to consider.

If you can find one i'm sure you'll be chuffed with it, as the passenger & rear seats in mine are like new.

Considering its a 13 year old car i'm amazed really.

It should give the car a nice smell inside too.
