Shall I swap

Featured Replies

Hi all thinking about swapping my octavia blackline 2012 32000 miles serviced 3 times in excellent condition.for a subaru impreza wrx s,50000 miles sat Nov in excellent condition..would appreciate any comments I do like my skoda but I would love something with a bit more power..

I can not think of any reason I would swap.

What is your reasoning ?

Depends what you use the car for I've had both.

Performance the wrx is better but the wrx is the very poor cousin of the sti and in modern car performance terms slow and very under equipped.

Also if it's a UK version with the 2.5 engine I'd avoid as they are very unreliable with hg issues and ringland failures and also in the 460 a year road tax bracket and 25 mpg.

As a daily driver the Octavia is streets ahead and you don't look a chavvy tool driving it.

Haha top words there lads,I think I just needed to give my head a wobble, went to look at it today, and it's just not for me.

Love my skoda I've had it remapped and the back windows tinted,so it does look pretty nice..except my 5 year old has just noticed the front side light grill is missing or it maybe the front fog grill light has completely disappeared.. Any ideas where I would get one fellas..

As a TDI owner you obviously rate Mpg as a priority. A friend has just sold a decent diesel Alfa GT and bought a long-desired oldish but well maintained Impreza with Prodrive mapping/rework rated at 270 Bhp. Within 2 weeks he has realised that it's doing 25 Mpg at best and down to 15-16 Mpg when he wants to feel the buzz and this has dampened his enthusiasm for it. Unless you have cash to burn I'd stick with the Octavia.

It's different cars for different uses.

I used my impreza as a weekend car but the costs are painful.

It's a great car to take for a blast but for everyday use its rubbish.

Impreza do one thing only ....fast.

But a wrx is vaguely an Impreza and not worth considering as you get 50℅ of the sti performance with 95℅ of the running costs.

Yes if i had money to burn, which i defo haven't I might do it,it was a silly thought I picked my skoda because it ticks all the box's it's just I get bored of things pretty quick,I have haf it 2 years, the longest I've ever had a car..

I had my impreza 6 years and I don't regret one minute of owning it.

The sti is an epic car and anyone who tells you otherwise probably hasn't driven one.

But you would want to use it as a daily as it's crap on fuel, poorly equipped, looks silly and you can't leave it anywhere.

A wrx is a cheaper compromise but to be honest a pointless one as a lot of cars are just as fast with far better mpg and creature comforts.

I did keep the plate though which now lives on my Skoda.

The exhaust loudness thing is just a bolt on chav cannon.

The standard cars are no louder than anything else.

The extra noise is usually to make up for the lack of power from the wrx.

Mine was 88 dB at 4500 rpm on various track day tests.
