radio stopped working

Featured Replies

Hi,

Suggestions welcome. Started car, radio dead - no light or sound. Happened once before but fixed by reseating fuse F19 in engine fusebox. Didn't work this time though. Tried swapping F16 & F19 15 amp fuses (F16 is wiper & indicator stalks - according to handbook). Wipers & indicators worked, but still no radio. Still under warranty, so another visit to dealers I guess.

They'll be sick of sight of me - been in for interior light falling out, mystery pool of clean water under CD changer & in spare wheel 'sink' - they said they resealed that & it hasn't happened since and that weird brake thing when you can hear escaping air when press brake pedal or if you press pedal hard when ignition on pedal goes nearly to floor and handbrake lever pulls up way more than usual which they said was normal. Car still stops though.

Funny motors these, never had this sort of stuff on my old Escort.

Cheers.

EDIT:

Stranger & stranger, next day had total power failure at ignition, no dash lights, nothing. Got out, locked car (that at least worked) & tried sequence again. Lo & behold all seemed fine & radio worked again. Trip computer & clock was reset, & the miles remaining display dropped about 200 miles. No probs since. Still got 3/4 tank diesel so will see if miles remaining goes negative! Guess they put too much electrical crap in modern cars. Reminds me of a 1972 Austin 1300 I once had, now that was a dodgy starter! Dunno what the dealer will say, probably think I'm bonkers.

EDIT: darn things done it again, no life on first attempt at ignition, OK after exiting vehicle, locking & unlocking & starting again.

EDIT: found the bolt tightening the lead onto battery was loose! Hopefully, that'll fix it. Time will tell.

Thats good news, hopefully all sorted.
