no brake low warning light

Featured Replies

i have changed my front pads and discs on my 2012 octavia greenline today

they had gotten quite low but was expecting the warning light to be coming on soon

i was amazed to find there was no connector on the nearside or offside strut bracket. thought most new cars had brake warning lights now

anyway fastened the connector from the pad out of the way in case it should have one tucked away somewhere

any ideas

I think that warning light appears only if front pads are worn. Nothing happens with rear ones - you have to find out yourself, when to change them.

Maybe it's different for greenline.

It should have brake pad warning wires as its a requirement for long life servicing.

My MY12 Vrs doesn't have a brake wear indicator either.

My MY12 Vrs doesn't have a brake wear indicator either.

Very strange as said Longlife/variable servicing stipulates they need them because of the extended period between workshop visits. Seen plenty that have been broken mind you and then tied back up to the loom.

Strange why the wear wire is missing... production glitch?

It's not mission critical, you'd know your brakes were worn by the squealing/grinding and poor stopping.

Damn thing is unreliable anyway. Best to use mk.1 eyeball every so often.

My MY11 vRS doesn't appear to have the brake wear indicator wire either. I bought a disc + pad set with it included as I wasn't near to the car when I was ordering, I just assumed - wrongly of course!   I will have to cut it off or tie it up when I fit it.

Had one attempt at replacing front brakes a few months ago. Those front carrier bolts are so tight and probably corroded in too- hard to undo especially with the car jacked.
