FAO ScoobyChris - 130hp TD Mondeo

Featured Replies

;) You got one right. Allegedly ;) you've added something under the bonnet that wasn't from the factory.

Can you enlighten me please? Boss has just picked up a 130hp TD Mondeo on an 02 plate. :D

I'll drop you a PM ;)

Perhaps, rather than a performance enhancing device, it is something embarassing ?

Something I've yet to verify to be honest. I've not even seen the damn car yet - I just know its a 130bhp turbo diesel (of some sort :D)

TDCI was introduced in early '02 :P:rofl:

The only 130ps TD in the range is the TDCI. The other ones at that time were a 90ps and 115ps but these were both TDDI's and lacked the performance and refinement of the later common rail units.

You'll know it's a TDCI as it'll have it on the boot lid, the engine cover and there's also a plate/sticker under the bonnet which'll have 130ps on it. The 115ps TDCI was introduced with the facelift cars on 53-plate....

Verified it is a TDCi just now, but yet to find out if she wants a tuning box. :D She's a damn petrolhead really, so this diesel is going to be something new for her. Chris? Any idea what these get the TDCi to push out, not in your own experiences of course - just what you've read elsewhere. :D

If you believe the boys on the Mondy forum, they all push out 150-160bhp as standard and will see 180bhp with a tuning box. I don't believe them, so I'm saying 130bhp as standard and 160bhp with a tuning box ;)

No reliable evidence to back up either claim though

Chris

No way they puch out 150-160 as standard. We have 4 on our fleet and my A4 Avant 130 matched them easily....

But if you believe what you read on here, then all the PD130's also put out 150-160bhp ;)

Chris

About 12 months ago the Superchips ad/review section in Diesel Car Mag did an X-Type 2.0D (Uses same 130bhp 2.0TDCi engine as the Mondeo), on the rr before "chipping" they got a reading of around 138-140bhp as standard, after, from memory I think they got it up to around 165bhp once chipped.

Nice engine by the way, far more refined than the PD130.
