Secondhand Amundsen system

Featured Replies

See a few of these come up secondhand on ebay, anyone bought one from there and installed, All working okay and how easy are they to install?

I've just removed mine to fit a Columbus and fitted my Amundsen into my dads Mk2 Fabia insted... for free of course! :D

Same as buying one from ebay though i guess.

What year is your Fabia? - that will depend how well it works in your fabia.

They are easy enough to install, you will need a GPS aerial also since your car doesnt have standard sat nav, but basically remove the trim, remove the 4 bolts, unplug the old one and reverse for fitting the new one.

Nice, sounds easy enough, just have to hope if i did buy one s/h it works ok, it needs to be supplied with its code doesn't it? i have a 2014

2014 will be fine, mines 2012 and was fine.

You need a code and sat nav SD card.

Pm me if you buy one without a code, I should be able to help.

I have one in a 2007, it doesn't link with ignition or maxidot - but it's a cool unit, so who cares?

I have the nav disc in the cd slot and in the memory card slot I have a 32gb SD card with mp3s

It should link with maxidot, have you tried to program it?

The one in my 2007 doesn't like the wiring, it doesn't switch on and off with the ignition if you know what I mean, so like yours I assume?

Have you found a way around that?

Do they have DAB?

Do they have DAB?

Some have DAB some don't, likewise with Bluetooth. Check carefully before buying if it's something you want. Also if you get an Amundsen+ unit the maps are stored on internal memory so that you can use the sd card slot for something else

Only the Amundsen Plus units have either DAB or Bluetooth, and even then it's not fitted to all of them. The standard Amundsen has not got DAB or Bluetooth.

Cheers for that, just been checking the selling on ebay who has a number of different units, done abit more researching and found this out, looks there is one that has it all, abit more expensive than the others. Part number  3TO 035 192 G

  • SKODA AMUNDSEN+ RNS 315 navigation system
  • GPS antenna
  • Code card
  • DAB digital radio technology for broadcasting radio stations built into the system
  • Bluetooth already built into the system
  • Hardware version H52
  • Software version 0319
  • Map preloaded on internal memory version 0038

Those maps are well old. V3 maps I think. V8 maps are the latest, and updates cost another £150 or so from the dealers, or less if you can find a set which hasn't already been used. Shop carefully with the Amundsen Plus units, because the maps are a nightmare.

Edit: Yep, just checked and those maps are V3. 0068 maps are V8, so that's what you need to be looking for to be up to date. Like I said, budget £150 for those.

If you're not too bothered about Bluetooth but really want DAB, then a DAB Columbus would be a much better idea I reckon. For £439 from there for a DAB Amundsen Plus unit with old maps, it's not a particularly inspiring purchase. You'll need a DAB antenna as well mind you if you go for a DAB unit, and you'll also need a GPS antenna for the sat nav function. Add in a roof mount with both those functions, add maps updates, and the whole lot would come to neck end of £700 for a fully updated unit and Bluetooth.

Into a mk2? In my Roomster the speed signal didn't get to the sat nav unit, so although the map screen moved with the car icon in the right place the nav instructions didn't work.

The Kufatec part solves this issue too

Yours is a 2007 model though, the car in question is a 2014 and the canbus system is compatible.

Fitted an Amundsen+ to a 2013 Fabia vrs. Took minutes to fit. Very easy and simple install.

There's guides on this forum let me know if you need a shortcut.

To use the DAB you will need to install a DAB aerial.
