Aircon issue- VERY noisy (with video)

Featured Replies

Why do they keep replacing the compressor?

They say the noise it makes can only be down to the compressor. But overtime I go there the noise has gone- so making use of a stethoscope is pointless...

That noise is due to low gas. They refill it and then it makes the noise again because the gas gets low because it's leaking.

Seriously.

Take it to someone competent and then send them the bill.

Not ideal as I guess they have an agreement with this garage- so my hands are tied. I'll give them the chance to rectify it for the whole day next week. I pray this works...

Still with them- they say its fixed... Too long to explain on here so here is the email I sent- today is the day we find out if my dad's cancer has spread so you can imagine how little time I've got for this issue...

Hi xxxxxx

This air conditioning issue is really starting to drag.

I really am a fair person but it has been nearly 3 weeks since I bought the car (and a few days of those were to fix it),  over 2 weeks since I paid for it, and after 2 attempts at fixing the car, a 3rd time of me driving there to be told to come back the week after and countless emails to you and we are still not much further.  I am obviously hoping the 3rd attempt will definitely fix it.

As much as I appreciate you have other customers, and a baby to think about, I do have my life too (and a hellish one at the moment) and I just can't keep emailing you and wondering when things will happen - I really haven't got the time.

I appreciate that I got a loan car last week, I didn't mind what it was as long as it kept me moving for a short amount of time. I rang Xxxx on Friday and he said it was fixed but suggested I leave it a few days to test it was definitely ok. I thought that was ok and a good idea to ensure it was fixed once and for all, so I was happy to leave it over the weekend.  Xxxxx was supposed to ring me to confirm all was ok but I didn't get a call. I called today early afternoon for an update and he still maintained it was fixed, but that he would give it a last test and call me back 10 minutes later to arrange collection of the car this evening.  I left it over an hour and never got a call. I rang back 3 times throughout the afternoon but there was no answer.  As you know, I bought the car as I need a spacious vehicle for my business and I will be needing to use my car.  The lack of communication is a problem because one minute I think I am collecting the car and the next the end of the day arrives and there is no update as to what is happening, so I am not able to plan ahead and I do of course have my own work and dealing with the car has to fit around this.

As much as xxxxx seems a good guy, he very rarely answers his phone, never calls back and with an ongoing issue like this the situation is very impractical. I have to fill the Polo up every 2mins not knowing when I'll be handing it back, there is no air-conditioning in it either (and with my dad in it for the last few days it has been uncomfortably warm and the blower only works on 3!!).

This car really has to fixed - I need the car for my business now, especially as we are working this weekend.

As I said, the huge lack of communication and delay are the main problems.  I've spent time and effort on this which could have been spent elsewhere. I appreciate you said you'd fix it from the start, but so far I still haven't got my car back and it really is taking far too long. Just put yourself in my shoes, how would you feel?

Please respond asap- or give me a call.

Thanks

Fingers crossed for your dad, and for the car.

I am having a similar issue with the air con on my car. The dealer has replaced the compressor and it worked for a bit. Now it works sporadically and sometimes kicks in and other times doesn't. I have noticed that when it doesnt kick in the radiator fans dont activate. Even if the aircon wasnt working I would have thought the radiator fans would activate. I have only had the car 2 weeks of which 1 week was back at the dealer being fixed. It is very frustrating.

Still no luck on this- my car has been with them for over 2 weeks and been to air con specialists. The car is still leaking gas but no machine or dye can detect it. They've replaced a pipe at a cost of over £200 and this didn't help.

They're going to replace the compressor and replace every part until it fixes it.... It sure is an expensive fix!

If they have used dye and can't find a leak externally have they checked the air con drain tube?

I have no idea- and it's all a bit awkward for me to keep suggesting things as they're the experts.....!

Looking at my own faults, but was there any resolution to this??
