Yesterday I went to have a go in the new Octy vRS and was shocked when I was told I could only drive it to the first roundabout and back!!, for those that know this is Sparshatts in Fareham and the roundabout in question is only 200 yds away!!. When I suggested that how could I possibly make a valid judgement in such a short trip I was told that was all the acting manager would allow, although for the life of me I can't think why!. After some persuasion, I was 'permitted' to drive a little further (but not much) but only on a 30mph road.

I must say this is the worst test drive experience I have had although I have a sneaking suspicion that you are going to tell of worse!.

Thats awfull, should of just walked out.

Parks of Hamilton have one that you arent allowed to test drive. i can only think its for their showroom only :(

You think that's bad - try their Botley Subaru branch. The salesman who "took the car to a suitable test drive route" was a would-be rally driver and nearly crashed on about 6 occasions flying through rush hour traffic and passed schools :(

Suffice to say, he didn't get our custom and I managed to kerb one of the alloys too (oops )

Woodheads of Blackpool gave Shifty an Octy 2 vRS for the day!

And Simpson's of Colne invited me to take their's out for a couple of hours - even though I had told them I'm only just over 6 months into a 4 year lease deal.

Looks like some dealers are better than others - the rest of you need to get up to the North West for a weekend!

I know another local member on here who had a similar problem with that dealer.

I have bought both of my cars from them and not really had a problem with them, I can't claim that they are the best in the world but I do get reasonably good service from them.
