is bad toe in causing this?

Featured Replies

These are about 6 months old and I no longer drive like I stole the car, so I am assuming that the wear is down to poor toe in ( is that the word?)

Drivers side is worse but they are both causing concern.

I know efficient grips are soft with a flexible sidewall but I think it is mechanical rather than a tyre issue!

Your thoughts.

I presume this is fronts?

If so, then I think it's either toe settings or "assertive cornering technique".

Yep, it's the fronts!

Well I've always been taught to power into corners but I don't honestly think it is that!

My mates (and I) used to get this a lot and worse on the left than the right when we were converting from RWD to FWD cars. The base cause seemed to be pushing too hard in roundabouts.

What's the inside of the tyres like? If it's worn normally then it suggests you have toe in, if it's also worn excessively then it suggests under-inflation.

rest of the tyre is spot on so I guess it's toe in!

It could be tracking issues causing toe in, the feathering on the edge would back this up too. It could also be worn suspension bushes on the wishbone, allowing it to move slightly.

Best bet would be to get an alignment done, a decent tyre place should charge about £15-20 to do the tracking. On a flat (in this country?) road, does it pull to that side when you let go of the steering?

Wishbones are new and no it doesn't pull to the side!

And has the tracking been checked since the wishbones (and their bushes) were changed?

I don't believe so, no.

I don't believe so, no.

In which case I'm pretty sure we have a winner; get the tracking checked!

Doh

I had a bad toe once.
