Columbus Questions!

Featured Replies

Hello!

So I've been a happy owner of a Skoda Octavia petrol VRS mk2 06 for a month or so! (There was a lot of fuss with the dealer because of some problems with it but they're resolved now.)

So the VRS I have has the Columbus system - if someone can shed some light that would be great:

- Parking sensors - there are some fitted, when I shift into reverse the Columbus screen goes black and says is it safe etc but the music volume doesn't quieten down - I have to do that myself. Does that mean the sensors were fitted after? Is there a way to get the music volume to go down automatically? I had a look in the settings and couldn't see anything.

- Aux in - The Columbus has a CD Changer connected to it but the quality is not very good when playing music off the CDs in the changer, I've read on the forum that it's to do with a jumper and there is a link to a VW wiring loom instruction thing. I'd like to get an AUX set up, the option to turn on AUX in the Columbus menu is there but there is not AUX port in the central armrest. I'm thinking of:

 - Getting this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUX-in-Audio-Input-Cable-Adapter-For-Skoda-Superb-Octavia-Bolero-Columbus-RNS510-/122032558818?hash=item1c69b512e2:g:v6oAAOSwZ1BXdlp0

 - And this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Anker-SoundSync-Bluetooth-handsfree-compatible/dp/B0177T3OEU/

So that I can stream music over bluetooth? Would this mean that I won't have the ability to use the CD Changer (not an issue).

I've tried to search for the above questions but can't find anything specific!

Thanks!

A Columbus in an 06 plate will be a retrofit as it was the Nexus nag unit that was up till about 2008 iirc

Press "Tone" and go into Volume settings, look for Navigation & something, then Entertainment volume or something. Play with those settings.

Nice one, yeah thought so as the AUX was missing!

Cheers Rustynuts - cool will definitely have a look when I get home tonight. When I was looking earlier the only thing I could find was the speed volume thing!
