New Superb Seeker

Featured Replies

Hi all

After getting by with a Ford Ka as a family car for two years I have recently been attracted to the Superb I. I have read quite a lot on them, in particular the excellent buyers guide here on Briskoda. Yesterday I went to see my first one at a garage in West Yorkshire, 55 plate,1.9 TDI, 120k miles. I really liked the Superb, just not this particular car. It had the water ingress problem - wet carpet under the passenger seat, damp smell. Also none of the interior lights worked. The passenger door would not unlock. Its rear offside bumper was coming away from the body. But it drove alright! It was up at £1,200. On reflection that is probably a fair price but I'm willing to pay a little more for a slightly better car.

If anyone has one within a 50 mile radius of Skipton, please get in touch.

Thanks for putting together such a useful site.

Mike

Hi Mike, welcome to Briskoda!  You're better off avoiding one with that many issues and spend a little more if you can.  Should be plenty of assistance on the Superb I forum.  Hope you find something suitable

Haha! Well, I have bought a silver 2004 1.9tdi Comfort. Exterior is great, needs some wheel centres but that's easy enough. The interior is a bit grubby but me and my boy have been working on that. 120k miles, all electrics seem intact except the parking sensors and an airbag fault (=project). It drives great, brakes well, gears are nice. I have driven it to work for a week (10 miles dual carriageway, 10 miles urban) and it is so comfortable!

Today I've had the battery and cover out. One plug was out, one remained. So I pulled that out too and gave it all a good clean. Cleaned around cabin filter, will do the gasket job properly another time.

All in all I am very happy wit it. Now for a family drive up the A65!

That doesn't sound bad at all.  You obviously know how to look after a car so the grubby bits will soon be a thing of the past.  As long as its sound mechanically and electrically that's the main thing.
