CAMBUS what is connected to it?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Does anyone know if all the wiring is on the CAMBUS, if that is the correct way of saying it.  I am fitting a reversing camera to my Fabia and was going to power from the reverse lights but have read that this can mess with the CANBUS.  I've found that the wiper motor feed is always live when ignition on and thought about using that instead but i'm now wondering if that will mess with the CANBUS too.  Any ideas?  Thanks all.

CAN BUS is a network. It's a way of minimising wiring in a car. Instead of having a bundle of wires you have two data wires. CAN HI and CAN LO. Every control unit is linked to an interface, on our cars this is called gateway. So if the dash wants to talk to engine it will send a signal to gateway which will then communicate to the engine. This is helpful with diagnostics too as the diag machine can just plug into gateway and chat with the network.

So where does the 1.6 -> 2.0 adaptor fit?

I think that's only used for some things like the radio adaptor loom.

That's if you want to run something like a Columbus headunit in a pre 2010 car. In 2010 the Fabia was updated to run a higher speed CAN network.

I don't think anything will notice if you tap into the ignition live feed to the rear wiper motor.

Depending on the age it is BCM fed I think but should be ok. It's just check its 12v first.

Black wire straight from fusebox on the later diagrams I've looked at.

Still finding it hard to believe that the 2010 edition of the current flow diagram runs to 4621 pages!

Ctrl-F to the rescue...
