Coming Home No Longer Working

Featured Replies

Bit of an odd one here.

I have an Elegance which has the rain/light sensor, but no auto light switch.

When I first got the car, I coded it so coming home/leaving was active with the sensor.

If I left the lights in the off position, when I unlocked the car, if it was dark enough it would put the lights on for 30 seconds.

If I left the lights in the on position, when I locked the car, it would leave the lights on for 30 seconds, then shut all the lights off. When I unlocked the car, it would put them on for 30 seconds if it was dark enough.

I recently upgraded my radio to a Bolero, and in the process took the CAN gateway from 1K0907530F to 1K0907530AA

I copied the coding as normal, and there is no problem with battery drain from the Bolero.

The other day my battery went flat on me, but it wasn't the Bolero, it was my lights.

For some reason, now, if I leave my lights in the on position, they do not go off after locking the car any more.

If I turn off the ignition, leave the lights on, then open the door, I get no warning bongs. If I leave it 30 seconds, or lock the car and then unlock the car, when I open the door it bongs to tell me I've left the lights on.

If I leave the light switch in the off position, it still brings them on for 30 seconds when unlocking if it's dark enough.

I couldn't see any coding options in the CAN gateway for coming home or even simply lights, so what's going on?

I left them on again this morning without realising, but luckily someone came to tell me before it was too late.

Have you coded the RLS (rain light sensor) in the can gateway?

That's all I can think is that the car suddenly doesn't realise it has a light sensor.

And check in the central electric module that RLS is still coded in there.

Also check in the sub menu of central electric to see if you can access the RLS coding.

Yes I copied the installation list 1:1and went through the long coding too.

I also can still access the RLS in central electric.

Auto wipers still work absolutely fine.

So bit more to this....

I have now unticked coming home enabled option in the central convenience Lcode, but left the other option to personalisation.

I still have coming home/leaving options in maxidot.

If I leave the light switch in the ON position, it now bongs to tell me I've left the lights on.

If it's OFF, and I unlock the car when it's dark, it still turns the lights on for 30 seconds.

Just to note Billywhizz had a similar problem when we upgraded his CAN gateway to accommodate a new Columbus. At the same time we coded his auto lights which in his case was an aftermarket unit fitted to the switch. I'm not sure he had the same issues exactly but he definitely had battery drain which we put down to the coding of the autolights. Be worth comparing notes I think.

I only coded the central electronics module to tick the RLS (to be honest I wasn't convinced that would work with aftermarket unit but it seemed to work fine in that autolights triggered when the sensor was covered up). I can't honestly remember if we coded it in the gateway or not.

The thing is I can't even see any option for RLS in the gateway coding.

Auto wipers still work absolutely fine though.
