Some help with these fault codes please ..

Featured Replies

Had an inkling that my air con wasn't working as well as it should be, so using Carista I scanned for faults, and got the flooring;

Central electronics:

02390 - Control/regulation for ambience lighting (E400)

Body/convenience system:

01135 - Interior Monitoring Sensors

Body/convenience system:

00332 - Control for tank flap

Heater & air conditioning:

00716 - Air recirculation Flap Positioning Motor (V113)

Heater & air conditioning:

00229 - Refrigerant Pressure (K189)

Obviously the bottom 2 are air con related, but the top 3 ? I've cleared the faults, but the 'Central Electronics' one keeps reappearing ... Can't put my finger on anything obvious at the moment :(

Thanks in advance

Several electrical issues? Battery issue maybe? That's known to cause spurious electrical issues.

99.9% sure at the age your car is it won't have E400 which means there is a coding error. Does the instrument dimmer work anyway?

Interior monitoring sensors are very common for packing up. Lots of software revisions when these cars were in warranty. Would require a new module.

Sounds like the solenoid for the fuel filler is having issues, probably wants a new solenoid.

Air recirc flap very common. Could try resetting with VCDS but probably wants a new motor.

Refrigerant pressure is fairly obvious.

Cheers FatBlokeVRS and Tech1e ...

  • Regarding the E400 error ... yep both the instrument panel dimming and headlight dimming / adjusting work as intended .
  • Fuel Filler Solenoid ... Hmm haven't noticed any issues with the opening and closing of the fuel filler flap, but I'll keep an eye on it
  • Air Recirc Flap ... have reset it via the button press sequence on the front .. time will tell
  • Refrigerant pressure is more worrying ... only had it re-gassed a couple of months back, now it's saying that there is no gas in there ?? Would the classic 'nut in the middle of the compressor coming loose' cause this error - or is it the more expensive dreaded compressor problem that I'm seeing a lot of on here ? If I turn on the A/C then it lights up as intended, doesn't make any weird noises etc .. just doesn't blow out any nice cold air ??

Can someone point me to where the compressor is in the engine bay ?  And some basic air con fault find checks if possible ? But it doesn't sound good I admit :(

Thanks for replies so far .. appreciate it as always

Low refrigerant following a recent regas would point to a leak. Most common area is the condenser but you should get a proper leak test done, as it's expensive to throw money at different parts of the ac system. Condenser replacement is fiddly but less than the cost of a compressor I believe, but of course it might be simpler than that. These days ac testing needs to be done with specific material to be legal so go somewhere reputable.
