no sound satnav

Featured Replies

wife has just go t a new citigo colour edition and no sound from sat nav ?

checked radio and cd works volume on pid is on

anybody any ideas please

Is the mute button / icon showing as muted on the satnav screen?

I'm glad you've just asked this as noticed the same on (new member) boycalledhorse's Citigo yesterday.

Radio working fine. Sat nav showing not muted. But no spoken navigation instructions.

Also noticed that if I was showing any other screen on the PID, it didn't pop up navigation instructions at junctions etc. Not sure if it should, just thought it would. I mention this as I'm wondering if it's turn-by-turn that's switched off rather than the sat nav sound.

Do you have to Adjust the volume on the radio whilst in Sat Nav Mode ?

I've had the radio at over half volume

If it helps, boycalledhorse connected the PID up to the Garmin PC software to see if there was an update.

There wasn't, however as of this morning, the PID is all chatty again, giving route directions and warning of this, that and the other.

The boot this morning took longer than expected so I suspect it has reset something or other. Getting the voice back may simply be a case of switching it off and back on again

You need to adjust the volume as the sat nav would be speaking

Usually when plotting a route it gives you 3 choices the voice is speaking rhen so turn it up

Or while enroute I think it's the next turn icon in the bottom corner press that and it should be speaking then adjust volume accordingly

I remember this happening on ours a few times, but can't recall the fix. I think it happens when you cancel voice instructions towards the end of a route, then the next time you use it, set a new route without 'un-cancelling' the cancelled voice instructions. Once you do this, it doesn't matter whether you set it to voice or no voice - you don't get spoken route guidance. I think a hard power off reset (long hold on the power button) brings it to its senses, but it's been a while since I had the problem, so can't be sure. Adjusting any of the volume settings had no effect on the problem. Looked like a bug to me.

This guy gets it, exactly the same happens to mine, just learnt to not mute it and remember if I have done, to unmute it before exiting :D

Had similar problem twice. Last time this weekend. Obviously I must have switched sound off somehow. Spent ages trying without resorting to internet or manual ( its a man thing)  to unsuccessfully fined  volume control .

I then tried the car phone dial out to my home land line sound was on .....Returned to the navigation sound was  then  back on working fine! . I am sure that in the system there must be manual adjustment but I never had to look any further to get sound back on.

Hope this helps.

Have just come across this topic, and I've had the same problem on several occasions.

No.1 is DO NOT program the sat nav before you actually start up to head off - it doesn't like it & invariably "loses" the voice.  Even programming it the night before (as I used to do) causes it to see its' own postilion.

No.2.  If the voice has gone, then go into settings & revert to "Factory Settings" - a bit of a bind as you then have to select whatever options (like 12 or 24 hour clock etc) that you previously had, but it does (or at least it has with me on several occasions) restored the verbal guidance.

Hope that this helps.
