Basically lack lustre!

I do agree with the styling remarks. I think the seats would have looked better in two tone as opposed to three tone it's way too ott IMHO  I do not like the rear spoiler either. It is a style faux pas in my opinion hence why money will not be going to Skoda come car chaning time.

I tend to agree with you MC. I bought the Mk1 with the intention of keeping it and the new car does nothing to change my mind on that. It's such a shame I think Skoda have missed an opportunity to keep the other makers on their toes. They've lost something I can't quite put my finger on.

Well I for one sat up and paid attention when I saw the MKI Octy RS advertised in one of the lads mags (I think it was FHM) I thought wow what a car!!! But this one reminds me of something my dad would drive.

Channel4's Mk1 vRS review wasn't that glowing either... (A re-map solves their issue with low rpm boost and the hiss of the pressure release)

It's good that despite having the older model, it's not necessarily inferior to the new one. I'm certainly not a fan of the new version's appearance.

My Dad made a good point when I got my car when he said that I should keep hold of it when I get the next car and have it stored properly as it could well be considered a classic in the future. Who knows?

IIRC their review of the Fabia vRS wasn't too great either - maybe they just dont like Skoda's?

That being said, I did agree with some of their points it has to be said - like the fact its not really a hot hatch as such, which to me, it isn't, other than the fact its fast and a hatchback. I almost think of it being more like a Volvo competitor than a hot hatch.
