Fabia over heating

Featured Replies

My fabia is a 51 plate, I've had it since June.

Friday I went on a longer trip than normal, so was driving it for around an hour when the water light started beeping and the temp was near red. I found somewhere to pull over to let it cool, re filled the water. Went on my journey. Got 5 mins down the road and the temp went straight back up. Water level right down. Had to get green flag. Anyway he said it was the water pump. Got home took it to garage and they confirmed. Then car wouldn't start. Got it started and went home on advice of mechanic. Was seconds away from home (it's a 5-10min journey from garage). The oil light flashes and it limped into the drive way. Phoned garage and they've said not to drive it, Until they can pick it up

I'm looking on the dark side now that this is a major problem. Can anyone give me ideas about what it could be.

Give us a clue, engine?

Yes sorry. It's 1.4

16v, 8v?

I think it's a 16v. I'm not sure where to check. But on the engine cover its says 1.4 mpi.

That's an 8v then.

Quite possibly the water pump but equally thermostats are also very common.

If it's got real hot and limping it's a good chance there is now further damage. Head gasket is likely, would also check the head isn't warped when removed.
