front ops retrofit

Featured Replies

following on from the completion of my dab retrofit, heated washers and rear camera installation i am going to fit my front ops kit this weekend.

the car already has rear ops from the factory so can anyone tell me where the part to code it is located in the vcds or wont this appear until i fit the 8k parking module?

ive read a few write ups and im 99% sure i know what i am doing, the only thing that im unsure of is will i need to do a can high and low connection as the car already has rear ops fitted.

any help or advice appreciated

If you already have a rear only OPS module then no coding should be required.

If you're going from PDC to OPS then coding is required (as they're on different addresses).

Again if you already have an OPS module then no wiring change is required.

If coming from PDC to OPS you have to change the CAN wiring to hi/low.

You should only need to fit the new module, fit and plug in the new sensors and connect the switch and second buzzer. The new module will need coding to your car's specifics but there's not much to change as I recall. The existing can connection should do you fine - I'd be surprised if the same pins in the 4k and 8k module weren't used for that.

Thanks for the replies.

There seems to be differing views in the threads as to what's required also.

I'm just going to plug the new module in,wire the switch and test the sensors from there.

I'm pretty sure I'll need to change some coding though.

As Phil says wiring changes apply if upgrading from pre fl to fl modules (which is what I did) but you already have the fl rear setup so it shouldn't apply to you.

has anyone got the long coding for the parking module for both front and rear ops??

thanks

also is the rear parking module worth anything or is it just fit for the bin as its on its own with no wiring or sensors?

Mine is the FL 8k module at address 10 in a pre FL car and is coded 100001.

I sold my old pre FL 8k module on eBay for 30 quid.  They get damaged by the rear washer pipe falling off in that area in some cars so are worth something.

a quick follow up with what i needed to do.

the new module needed coding and is as follows

10001 for front and rear ops

30008 if you have a camera and want ops on left of camera screen.

as i already had rear ops from the factory when you unplug the old box there is a multi plug thats un needed as you need a new loom for the new controller, you can tap into the can high and low in this un needed plug which makes the whole job 1000 times easier.

i hope this helps anyone looking to do this retrofit as a search threw up all sorts of differing info for me,
