Considering a Passat TDI 130 sport...

Featured Replies

Well the Octy has just cracked 60K... So no more warranty.... DM Keith Skoda in Leeds will be relieved.... I know most of the staff on first name terms...

I'm totally pigged off with the car... the endless hassles I've had with it and with repeated dealer visits due to poor workmanship and not diagnosising issues..

The awfull lights, and stereo system.. the rattles and hums ...

My SWMBO 11 year old Mondeo is far quieter.....

I think I will get a 'history' from Skoda of all the warranty work my car has undertaken...

Any way.. I'm wanting to make the transition back to diesel power... and to Volkswagen in the shape of a Passat... The most reliable car i've owned by far was my much missed 99 Passat tdi 110 SE.. Nothing went wrong with that car...

I have considered the Fabia VRS but due to way high residuals and owners sky high expectations they are out.. Ibiza Sport is another possible.. but due to the awfull reliabilty of Seats I will be giving the Spanish marque a wide berth..

VW it is ..

Just got to off load the LEMON!!!

I'm sorry that you've had such a bad experience with your Octavia.:thumbdwn:

I bought my Octavia Elegance Tdi (110) new in 2003, it has only done 27,000 miles and it's warranty will expire in June. I've had no problems whatsoever - it's been a fantastic car and I wouldn't hesitate in buying another. I am planning to buy a new Fabia Vrs as a second car soon.

I can see why you want to steer clear of another Octavia, unfortunately someone will always end up with a 'Friday afternoon car' and I think you've been unlucky ( I had the same experience with a rather expensive Volvo estate). Skoda normally seem to be right at the top of the European manufacturers when it comes to reliabilty.

I wish you all the best with whatever you decide. :)

As a passat tdi 130 owner.........

avoud earlier cars. but i guess thats not an issue.....

got an 01 car myself, so maybe it's just the the first models in that previous facelift but..

interior prone to creaks in centre console esp. under rapid acceleration, glovebox fitting gaps.......

seatbelts don't retract quickly or cleanly, yet somehow it's still legal.

and it sounds harsh, even by diesel standards - like a clapped out transit - the 110 models don't so wonder if it's a result of the PD system...

rust around boot lights already and VW won't accept its a bodywork issue.....

but it was a free car, so you'd have benefit of test drives and careful inspection.

Boot smaller than Octy too.

However, they are tuneable, and if you're looking at Sport trim, it will probably have bigger alloys and less of the waft-matic suspension than std.

The car I had previously was a pre-facelift version...

It was a SE so it had the 'comfort' suspension and poor 'dipped' beam headlights

The facelift version looks like its even more classy...

I will need to re-aquaint myself with the 'Passat'...

P.s. I was passing by a local VW dealer who has 4 'new' old shape pre-reg Passat TDI Sports all on 05 plate.. For just under

Unlucky.Mine has 55k on and I never see the dealer.

A Superb would be cheaper and bigger and possibly more kit.I was tempted by a 130 pd,just prefer a hatch to a boot though.

Passat is nice, just think you get more for less with the Superb
