Mk1 octavia front speaker all the same?

Featured Replies

The drivers side front speaker in my vrs seems to be bust as it rattles/distorts when a song is played with plenty of bass.

Are all the front speakers the same across the range? Same part number?

Should be but could be an opportunity to upgrade em?

Yeah was thinking that. Be handy if there was an aftermarket speaker that would fit right in.

all you need to know is the diameter and depth of the speaker - once you have that then you should be able to find an aftermarket speaker - all mounting holes are usually the same on the same size of speaker

I have Alpine E-types, easy to fit if a little pricey.

You got a link to the alpines? I guess the door card has to come out?

Can't remember to be honest :) I took the door card out, it's vaguely possible it can be done by taking the speaker cover off though.

should just need to remove the cover to unscrew the speaker and pull off the cables - don't forget there is a tweeter connected in the door near the mirror so if you want to change them it is a PITA

I broke BOTH my tweeter covers, one so bad it won't fit back on. I've been trying to find one on ebay etc and had no luck other than people wanting £20 for them ! Be very careful when inserting the new tweeter.

If you want a good stock replacement, PM me.  :)

They are coaxial speakers?  The sound wil be worse as the treble is down at your feet

I've still got the separate tweeters in the doors, it sounds fine
