I have a 2005 Fabia vRS that has done 126,000 kms. The car seems to be running fine when cold, good power but once it is warmed up, it gets drastically worse. Once warm the engine can start to feel sluggish and a little unresponsive at times, noticed it especially tonight on the commute home. I use to get 700 km on 38 litres of diesel and now I only get 580km on the same amount. I have had a look through some of the forums but haven’t really seen anyone with the same sounding issue. 

 

Any thoughts would be welcome.

Start by replacing the ECT sensor, they drift badly with age.
