Engine warning light

Featured Replies

Hi, new to this so here goes. I have a 2006 Skoda Fabia 1.4. When ticking over in traffic for a few minutes the engine warning light starts flashing and it goes into safety mode, lack of acceleration and shaking. After a couple of shaky miles the light stops flashing and stays on for a couple of days and then goes out.The Skoda garage said nothing came up on the diagnostic code reader.  Has anyone had similar experiences? Any help would be appreciated.

Is this a 1.4 mpi?

Whatever it is it's misfiring so check the coilpack/leads/plugs as applicable, it's the HT ignition side which is not monitored by the ECU.

If it's a 1.4 mpi it could be the coil pack as it's a pretty common problem.

Yes it is a 1.4 mpi. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try changing the plugs first, then the leads and coil. If that doesn't work I'll be back.

Doesn't have leads, just a coil pack.
