Shaking car

Featured Replies

i have had problems with shaking in the car the last monts.

i have. changed the brakerotors, the skoda dealer told me that all my new tires (test winner tires) had height cast/alligment problem. i took the car to the tiredealer that told me that he didnt belive that. He had off all the wheels and checked them.

this weekend i had a long drive in warm weather. inbetween 40-60 km pr hour the car shakes. it altso felt like i had a flat tyre on the left front when i did hard turnes at speed. i thougt, ok ill swap for the winter tyres tomorrow to check if it is the tyres. but the next time i drove the car it was gone.

the tyres seem evenly weared.

what can it be?

suspension?

a bad left front tyre that wobbles when warm?

other things?

Are your brake discs (rotors) fitted to the hub properly with nothing between the hub and disc?   Build up of dirt, rust etc. ?.

Worn joints in the drive shafts?

I assume the wheels have been balanced .

If the wheels are alloys and been refurbished, sometimes the centre s are coated and do not allow the wheels to seat properly on to the hub centre correctly

the rotors are fitted properly. the shaking isnt more noticeable when braking.

the skoda dealer changed the left drive cv joint not long ago. but can anything whit that give a on an off vibration?

wheels are balanced, original alloy wheels without dents

Think you're going to have to do some elimination given what has already been inspected or replaced. Try different tyres or wheels and tyres (preferably 4). Move forward with diagnosis from there.
