New bike

Featured Replies

So my Pro Carbon PlanetX was making some grinding noises when going up hills..

Then making the noises when on the flat, so decided to strip it down and pop over to Sheffield to get some new bearings..

Turns out they didn't have the bearings as I'd need to go to the Barnsley shop.

I've been toying with the idea of a new bike as I've really got into it the last year, so why not have a little test ride.

So just waiting for it to be built, then a fit test before I can ride it.

very excited.

my neck hurts just looking at that!

Are those actually one-cross spoke wheels? If so, how hard is the ride?

Very nice

I've not been out on it yet, I'm nights all week so will hopefully be going Friday.

Have you seen the latest trick in road-racing descending, where you sit with your, ah, wedding tackle on the crossbar?

I've tried it, does work but jesus it feels sooo dangerous.

That looks sweet as fook. I love my SL Pro Carbon, however don't ride that enough (or my other two bikes) to justify another one at the moment, despite Rule 12 (n+1)

What is you plan now for the SL? I reckon it would make an awesome super-commuter - 11x1 and flat bars...

Bearings arrived today - not what I wanted after a 12 hour night shift to be woken up after 40 mins sleep. I'll get them fitted and hopefully it sorts out the crunching issue (I don't see why not) then use it as a more training bike/winter bike.

My commute is 30 miles each way, so probably use the new bike for that.

You ride 60 miles and do a 12 hour night shift??????

Unless I misunderstood...............?

I don't ride every shift. Try to do it at least once per set.

But yes 28.2 miles to work and 31 home.. Sometimes detour a bit more on the way home though if it's nice.

That is pretty impressive. I know it is not a particularly long way for a fit and regular rider, but including a twelve hour shift too.

Depends on your age though, too.

Do you do particularly physical work in your job?

Does it take you 3 & 1/4 hours ride time? They your own readouts?

In my early twenties used to ride Ilkeston to Matlock 40 mile round trip every Saturday for leisure, and did Ilkeston to Skegness for cancer research. 92 miles in a little over 4 hours. Never been in a club though either. Ride mtb now.
