Skoda official roof bars

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Hopefully I'll be picking up my new (to me, anyway) Superb estate aka combi this week to replace my Roomster.

I am wondering if the roof bars I have will move straight over. I would assume not but the bars are labelled up mk2 Octavia and are adjustable so I thought there was a reasonable chance!

Cheers,

Steve

What's the part number for them and I will check against my Superb bars for you.

It depends on the length of the bars and the mounting on them. The bars I had on my '99 Passat were too short to fit across the rails on the Superb so I ended up having to buy new ones. My old bars were 110 cm long, the new ones are 118 cm long.

Thanks for the offer - had a look at them but can't find any part number on them. The sticker just lists them as Skoda Octavia mk2 Combi 2004 roof bars, unfortunately. I expect I'll have the box etc. buried in the garage... It was going to be a temporary thing anyway so I may as well dig that out tonight.

Thanks for the offer

Thanks for the info - it might come to that! Given they're stickered up as Octy bars they can't be far off...

Cheers,

Steve

The (Thule) bars from our Mazda 6 swapped straight over, its often a case of just trying and seeing how they fit. If the profile of the roof rails and length of the (cross) bars are similar you will probably be fine. Good luck!

You can usually get different clamps for Thule roof bars if you need them

A quick update - it seems the roof bars are the correct length...but the foot clamps do not fit the roof rails. The roof rails on the Superb seem to be slightly deeper than those on the Roomster.

Unfortunately, mine were the official Skoda roof bars.

I'm not familiar with the Skoda clamps but I presume they are similar to Thule (other Skoda posts say they are made by Thule) so the bars are pretty standard and just the 'foot pack' needs changing to suit the different roof rail profile. Your Skoda dealer should be able to help.

Just had a quick look on Thule's website shows the Roomster has foot pack 775 (a strap arrangement) and the Superb has 757 (a clamp). So it might be 100 quid or so to change them. The bar length for Roomster and Superb II are both 118cms.

I have found used foot packs on eBay cheap BTW.

Let us know how you get on.

We bought some Halfords type things in France (Feu Vert) which bizarrely are designed to fit my wife's Dacia Stepway and the Skoda Superb. On the Dacia, they work fine....

.....on my Superb they whistle like crazy at any speed over 50kmh. Loading and ease of use is great but the noise.....ahhh!!

I need to invest in a set of the 'narrow' airstream things from Skoda or Thule I think (unless anyone on here has a solution? I'm thinking of playing with some 3D printing and making some fins or something....).

Dave

I have Thule wingbars and you'd barely notice they're there at 120 km/h.

I have the Thule WingBars too and chimaera is spot on regards the lack of noise.

(FYI, if anyone moves from a 5 series Estate with roof rails (2003 - 2010 model) to the Superb II - hang on to your Thule kit - its the same one, bars and feet, for both cars.)
