Missing Keys

Featured Replies

I am asking this on behalf of my daughter. Last week she purchased a low mileage 2006 Octavia 1.6FSI Classic,  the dealer only gave her one key with no buttons or blipper I assume this is the service key. Can anyone tell me how many keys and of what type the car originally came with when new and if it should have programed keys where to get them and what would the cost be. We are in North Cornwall and our closest Skoda dealer is some 40 miles away so would prefer a mobile solution if possible.  The dealer has said that he was going to get a key from the previous owner but no news yet.

I suspect that you might be a little too optimistic! My initial assumpiton would be that it has no remote central locking, and this post suggests that may indeed be the case on that trim level. I don't want to dash your hopes completely - I'm sure it was an option, so it might turn out that it was added (but the lack of remote keyfob is sending strong signals right now!)

Retrofitting is usually not too arduous, I had to do it to a Ford Escort once and I'll bet that the kits have moved on a little since then. Of course a genuine higher spec convenience module and matching keyfob would be even easier to fit - and perhaps something you could lean on the dealer to contribute towards if they did claim the feature was present and it turns out it is not.

Any competent mobile locksmith should be able to cut and code new keys, I had two done for a polo around the age of your car, it was about £65
