Adding remote central locking to Octavia Classic

Featured Replies

I have owned my Octavia Classic '07 for just over 2 years. One thing that annoy me was the omission of remote central locking. I have now added this feature.

I ordered a remote central locking kit from http://ultimatecarparts.co.uk/. This had to be modified to mimic the door lock circuit. The Octavia door lock has three states - default (open circuit), unlock (180 Ohm resistor to 12V) and lock (close circuit). The modifications were one cut track, 3 links and the addition of 180 Ohm resistor. There only needs to be 3 wires connected to the car - 12V, ground and the control line to the door lock.

I installed the remote central locking receiver in the coin holder by the driver's right knee. Ground connection can be found near the fuse box, together with +12V. Connection to the door lock is a bit more difficult. I used one of the guides on this forum to remove the door card. Door Card Removal A wire was added from the remote central locking receiver to the door lock - pass the fuse box, through the A frame & rubber grommet and inside the door card. It is then connected to the grau/gelb (gray/yellow) wire coming from the door lock.

Pictures and circuit to follow.

My soldering skills are not very good - where I work software engineers are not allowed to solder.

If you saw the modifications to the PCB, they were made by an experienced wireman.

Hi Guys,

New to this so thankful for any help.

Bought a unit from Ultimate Car Parts and fitted it as per your instructions to a Nov 2006 Octavia Classic. (Think it is the 07 model). Will unlock OK but when locking the drivers door will not lock. All other doors lock.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

also have Octavia Classic 2004 - you pictures match my car exactly but I dont understand the wiring.

Pic 100-3192 shows several wires into scotchloks, but pic 003 shows only 1 scotchlok for same?????

I bought on ebay unit VT500TWL (you can google)looks very similar to the one you show but not the same. Can you give advise, do I need to solder the bridges etc? Can I wire directly? which wires go to which colours on the door side.

Thanks in advance if you can help. I can send pictures of the circuit board if it helps

Tim,

Thanks for sending me a PM. It was the only way of prompting me to look at this thread.

I have removed picture 100-3192 as this was taken in my first attempt at installing the RC receiver. I thought I could mount the unit in the door but with all the CAN-bus switched 12V I could not find a non-switched 12V supply in the door.

Then I discovered that I only required one connection in the door it was easier to mount the receiver next to the fuse box (no problems about finding a permanently powered 12V there). The one wire in the door you need is labelled gr/ge for grau/gelb (gray/yellow in VW speak). It connects the driver's key switch F220 to J386 Door control unit Driver side.

If you could let me have a picture of your circuit board and any instructions (however brief) it would be a help.

great post

great idea for how to repair a central locking kit

You helped me a lot

Hi thanks to your post my octavia mk2 classic also has remote central locking and the drivers door unlocks on the button. I got a cheap kit off of ebay for £9.50 posted! I soldered a wire to the grey and yellow wire from the door lock, after removeing the door card as shown in your pics. My locking kit was a bit different to the one in the pics, I managed to get it to work less elegantly then in the pics by joining several wires together as follows: red to power from fuses, black to an earth point in the firewall, and both whites to the wire going to the grey and yellow control wire from the door lock, the white with the black trace needs a 180 ohm resistor before conecting to the control wire though, both the yellow wires need to be joined to the earth. The other wires ( 2 brown, green, pink, 2orange and red with black stripe) are not needed and I just cut them off. This kit is the most popular to find on ebay at the moment (sept 2013). I recomend it especially for under a tenner and 4 hours work.

Hello,

Sorry to bump an old topic but my post seems to fit better in here rather than starting a new one. I have a 2005 Octavia MK2 I'd like to fit a keyless entry kit to. Could you guys take a look at this diagram and point me in the right direction?

I know I'll need a 180ohm resistor but do I go with a positive trigger or the negative trigger system?

Thanks

or you could just buy a 2nd hand CCM that has remote locking off Ebay. Just remove old 1, plug replacement in & away you go. Done it for a few customers with other VAG models that didn't have remote locking as standard.

Just make sure you get 1 with part number for same year Octavia that has remote locking

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE !!

I HAVE READ EVERYONE'S POST ON HERE 20 TIMES

AND TRIED EVERY POSS WAY TO TRY AND GET IT TO WORK

AFTER 4 WEEKS GIVING UP

PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME

Hi actionman39, do these 2nd hand CCMs come with the remote fobs?

How would I know from an ebay advert if it will suit my Ovtavia (2009 1.4TSI Classic)?

Where is the CCM unit located in my vehicle?

Thanks in advance....

i can't say if they will or won't come with the fob. That's down to whoever is selling the CCM & if they have a fob to sell with it. I've seen some that have come with fobs but i've seen a lot more that don't

CCM is behind the glove box..

the Fobs can be paired using VCDS, just need to adapt them.. but there are a few different frequency ones so that's what you need to be careful about.

I  have a CCM for sale in the trading forum/ebay and i can give you the details of the fob (434mhz) which you can buy separately.

what you have to be careful about is the part number of the remote is correct regardless of if it's the same frequency

Hello Folks.

Some further comments. After a frustrating day wrestling with exactly the same issue for the same motives on a Mk2, 2007 Octavia Classic. I have nailed it.. but with a different solution to that above.

By luck and testing I got to the yellow/grey wire as the control for locking the drivers door, a short to Gnd locks the car but a 180 ohm to +12v did not open it. I ended up disconnecting everything to the door so I could measure resistance applied by the actual lock and the result was 150ohm applied across the same Yellow/Grey to open while a short applied closes.

All I had from a dead Teac tape deck was two 330ohm resistors which in parallel are near enough. All is now well..

Further notes which contradict what is written above on the various comments. There is a permanent +12v and gnd in the door, so the brain is in the door on mine. +12V wired to the Red/White. Gnd wired to the big brown . The control wires, I have my relay open and closed commons now on the small brown coming form the lock and the open relay wired via my resistor bodge to the yellow/Grey and the close relay wired directly to the same yellow/grey.

Good luck

Hi did you join white wire and white/black wire together before connecting to car lock wire?
