Superb L&K Noise Cancellation

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Superb L&K is now 4 months old.

I'm still trying to find out if the "vehicle noise cancellation" is active, and how to turn it on!!

Also according to the brochure it has 12 pre-set sound profiles, I can only see 4.

Can anybody help please?

Colin

You mean this? http://steeringnews.com/skoda-details-2015-superbs-canton-sound-system-14565/

Supposedly reduces road noise dramatically.

Media, settings, sound, canton. Can't see how it reduces road noise other than a setting to increase music volume as the car goes faster.

Yes, that's it. So the brochure is wrong?!?!

Is the noise cancelling always on?

Re noise cancelling, I'm afraid it's nothing smarter than some kind of auto volume level that reacts to ambient noise, i.e you go faster it goes louder, but I would love to be told different. You can adjust the sensitivity with one of the settings but I forget which one it is.

As for the sound profile there are only 4, none of which are very good IMO, go to the profile and set your own for the best sound.

Thought all higher end modern cars had that, can't find a way of turning it on or off but my volume does rise as the car goes faster.

Technology to do actual noise cancellation well in a car cabin has recently become available, if only Skoda would take an interest.

Maybe next face lift - Skoda - are you watching ?  I'd be mega interested.

They need to ditch the Canton system and talk to Harman Kardon.

( B.t.w., a simpler thing - in engine bay cancellation with a big bad woofer, has been around for donkeys years and is easy, cheap to do. )

When I heard about the supposed "noise cancellation" abilities of the Canton system I was really excited and was set to ditch my old MKII immediately. Then, like pulling teeth, I slowly got a clearer picture of what it actually could do and I was really disappointed.

Skoda could make a big thing out of this. Skoda - Simply Clever, giving you leg room like in an eighty grand car, now Skoda - Simply Clever, giving you quiet like an eighty grand car, for a middle car price. But wait, group politics might say Nein. I can just see it.
